So Chris and myself have been back in sunny Durban for almost 3 months now - having lived in Johannesburg for almost two years - our family has also grown from 3 adorable dogs to 6! Yes, you read correctly, 6. See 'The Hounds' under my media page.
Moving to Johannesburg as a whole was full of life experiences, Chris was promoted to a GM position with his previous employer in Sandton. We were fortunate enough to have been able to live in the arty area of Melville - with it's quirky little homes and vibey 7th Street, eventually buying a gorgeous old home in the North Eastern suburb of Bramley but as luck would have it, we found wonderful tenants to look after our upcountry home.
What I did learn though was to take the good with the bad. As some of you may recall, I was involved in a very bad scooter accident (3 November 2015 will be five years) and after putting on a lot of weight decided to start walking and eventually I also started yoga again to lose the extra weight - which I did manage to do but unfortunately on 6 November 2014 I was attacked, stabbed and mugged - so it has been a learning curve having to deal with PTSD but it is something that I am working on and feel compelled to share with whomever is reading this. Just so that if I reference it in the future, it will all make sense. However, the one lesson I am trying to nurture from that experience is to communicate my feelings better - for the longest time I kept it all quiet - as if I somehow deserved to have that happen to me. My GP had to stop me and correct me when I told her "it was just a part of living in South Africa". It's not - but thats for another post.
The reason we decided to move back is because we started a company that has purchased a franchise, so it has been exciting, scary, tense and about 10 other emotions all wrapped into one - but we would have it no other way!
We are loving living in good old Morningside, with Florida Road and all it's amenities right on our front doorstep. and getting to see friendly faces that we haven't seen for ages; that includes you Dawn, Jamie, Lindsay, Tony, Andrew and Dylan!
I have even started a veggie patch - who would've thought?!
Until next time.
